Knight Knight (now Brutus) came to me as a foster dog. I had every intention of preparing him for his new forever home. As it turns out, I was preparing him as well as myself for his forever home! The day I got the phone call that someone was interesting in meeting him for a potential adoption, I knew I could never part with him. I was his human, and he was my protector. I cried my eyes out then called to let the league know I would be adopting him. He gets along great with his brothers and he is a wonderful addition to my family. I thank the AWLOPC so very much for saving his life, without them I would have never known my Brutus-bear! Thank you! ~Jennifer
Fergus Fergus was scheduled to be euthanized. He had parvo, a broken hip and eye problems, but we rescued him and took care of all his problems because we saw something very special in this boy. Fergus was adopted by the perfect family and is seen here with his new mom, Eirini being awarded the Service Dog award in Katonah NY.
Lucky I cant believe that in just a couple of months, we will have had Lucky for a year! :) What started out with us as his foster family, quickly turned when we saw his sweet face. That skinny little boy we picked up on Day 1 at PetCo no longer exists and he couldn't be more loved here in our family. We recently bought a new home that has a yard big enough for 2 kids and 3 dogs and he has more than enough running room - almost 2 acres. He is the most well behaved and well mannered dog, and we have quickly learned that if you have a lap, he's going to try to get in it! I think he forgets how big (and heavy) he actually is. I have to say though, that he has definitely changed the minds of a lot of people who have had misconceptions about pit bulls. We are teaching everyone that we can that they are not all like the dogs that are portrayed in the media. Slowly but surely, he's winning them over.... one non-believer at a time. :) I've attached some recent pictures for you in case you'd like to see him. He's oh so handsome and by far the best decision that we've ever made.
Gracie Hi! My name is Gracie. I am so lucky to be alive that I had to tell you my incredible story. At the very last hour, I was rescued by the AWLOPC from the Pittsylvania County Pound. After being transferred to the League of Animal Protection, an incredibly generous and loving family adopted me. I can't tell you (or wouldn't even be able to tell you) how grateful I am to everyone. Paws and Hugs, Gracie Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
